Is Stress Affecting your Fertility?

Is stress affecting your fertility? Scientists have found that those with high levels of a stress hormone can stop ovulating and are therefore unable to conceive. (European Society for Human Reproduction & Embryology)

While doctors may know the exact links between stress and fertility, a series of studies shows the impact is hard to ignore. (Human Reproduction Journal). In this research study, doctors found that pregnancy was more likely to occur during months when couples reported feeling 'good' - happy and relaxed and that it was less likely to occur when they were feeling tense or anxious.

It is not just natural pregnancies that are affected. In research published in Fertility and Sterility (2005), experts reported that stress may play a role in the success of assisted conception treatments such as IVF.

If you are suffering with the stresses of months or even years of disappointments trying to conceive naturally we can offer relaxation therapies such as massage and reflexology which are very effective in helping to decrease levels of stress and anxiety. We also provide listening support and 'talking therapy' through our trained counsellors as well as a wide variety of other complementary therapies to suit each individual.
